Temporary Skill Shortage (Medium-term) visa (subclass 482)

From December 7, 2024, the Skills in Demand (SID) visa officially replaced the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa.

Any TSS nominations and visa applications submitted before this date will continue to be assessed under the rules and requirements that were in effect at the time of lodgement.

If your employer submitted a TSS nomination but you didn’t lodge the matching TSS visa application before December 7, 2024, then—once the nomination is approved—it will be treated as a SID nomination. You will then be eligible to apply for a SID visa instead.

About this Visa

The visa lets you stay in Australia for up to 4 years, while Hong Kong passport holders may be eligible for a 5-year stay.
To qualify, your job must be listed on either the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) or the Regional Occupation List (ROL).
With this visa, you’ll be able to live and work in Australia for up to four years.
